Skirted trousers by Gareth Pugh, $1,432.80 at LuisaViaRoma.
We have seen skirted leggings.  We have seen peplum leggings.  Now I bring you…umm…half skirted leggings?  train leggings?  butt flap leggings?  Whatever you want to call them, they will make your butt look flat.

Acid wash torn leggings by Nightcap, $99.00 at Revolve Clothing.
Now we may add another chapter to the skirted leggings saga.  Individually, I think all the of trends represented here can work (ok, I hate skirted leggings, but I admit I may be unfairly biased), but when you put all the extreme trends together in one piece, it looks messy and and makes you look like a fashion victim.  Sometimes, less is more.

Peplum leggings by Costume Dept. $114.00 at Karmaloop.

Just when you thought skirted leggings were the worst place leggings could go.

PS. I know it’s a sad day for the fashion community, I am trying to keep it light with some good ole snark.

Zip sequin riding pant by Stolen Girlfriends Club, $257.00 at BuyDefinition.
Lets try to ignore the name of the brand.  Personally, I automatically judge labels that try to be overly witty or grandiose in their names (see also: Society for Rational Dress).
Beyond that, and despite being rather provocative, these somehow remind me of mom jeans.  I think it has to do with the zipper.  Exposed and contrasting zippers are very trending right now, as are high waists.  However, in making the zipper so noticeable, the designers are also drawing attention to how long it is, resembling mom jeans.  I don’t know how I would feel if my mom walked out wearing these babies.

Fergus leggings with skirt by Mike & Chris, on sale for $138.60 at Shopbop.
This may date me, but when I was in high school Hard Tail pants were insanely popular with the Abercrombie crowd.  In the winter months, many of these girls would put their Hard Tail pants underneath their Abercrombie jeans and fold the waistband of the Hard Tail pants over their jeans.  In retrospect, it looked like they were all wearing maternity jeans. These bring me back to those days, and not in a good way.  Sure, having a skirt built into your leggings prevents the “leggings as pants” mishaps, but at what expense?  The leggings are also bunching around the ankles, which makes them look more like flare pants than leggings.
On another legging related note, the designer of these leggings sent me a lovely message assuring me that the leggings were very comfy and the balls actually act as cushioning. That could have done me some good back in my school days, sitting on those hard wood chairs for hours. So, if you like the look and the price is right, they are comfortable.

Hand knit leggings by Isobel & Cleo, on sale for $190.00 at Beklina

I am sure the designers of these leggings thought long and hard about how comfortable it would be to sit on these balls of fabric for hours on end.  Nothing feels as good as little knots digging into your skin all day.
