Leather vest by One Teaspoon, $324.79 at ASOS.
This was quite obviously inspired by the bedazzled back brace from The House Bunny. You get all the function of a back brace while looking like the trim section from Michael’s exploded on you.
Acid wash torn leggings by Nightcap, $99.00 at Revolve Clothing.
Now we may add another chapter to the skirted leggings saga. Individually, I think all the of trends represented here can work (ok, I hate skirted leggings, but I admit I may be unfairly biased), but when you put all the extreme trends together in one piece, it looks messy and and makes you look like a fashion victim. Sometimes, less is more.
Split shoulder dress by M Missoni, $595.00 at Shopbop.
Submission by Sarah. Sarah said, “just seems like the designer had a bunch of left over scraps of fabric and decided to throw them all together in a dress. We are in a recession after all.” I have noticed this trend lately. It’s a “throw it against the wall and see what sticks” philosophy to design. A little bit of Balenciaga’s wrapped prints, a dash of Preen’s cutouts, and a hint of color blocking equals one messy dress.
Pearl dot dress by KTZ, £200.00 at Topshop.
Submitted by laughlikesilver, who described this dress as a lady bug meeting star wars and then morphing into a swimsuit.
Interestingly, this isn’t available on the US Topshop website, so I am very grateful to the submitter because otherwise I would have completely missed this terrible creation.
Embellished Suede shoes by Giuseppe Zanotti, $1,595.00 at Shopbop.
Individually, all the elements here could actually work. Even the bedazzled top part could work in a deliberately cheesy 80’s way. However, taking a yellow strappy sandal and covering it with floral beading, Native American inspired stripes, and bedazzled crystals creates a horror vacui that is just horrific.
